Diversity & Inclusion at Berkeley Lab

Updates to Parking Policy for Expectant Mothers

ncEa96acA

Berkeley Lab aims to promote a family-friendly work environment. Effective immediately, we have made changes to our parking policy at Berkeley Lab’s main site to allow expectant mothers (employees, contract workers, and affiliates) to receive a Temporary Blue Triangle parking pass. This program is designed to ensure that expectant mothers are provided safe access to their work buildings and vehicles, and to aid them in accessing parking at the laboratory during their pregnancy.

This policy is part of the Lab’s Diversity and Inclusion Initiative, launched by Lab Director Paul Alivisatos last fall. Ensuring a family-friendly workplace is one of the top priorities identified by the Initiative.

To arrange for this temporary accommodation read the policy online (under the “Policy” tab), complete the form, and submit it to Family Medical Leave/Disability Specialist Gayle Tornberg. For questions regarding eligibility, please contact Gayle at x5557 or fml@lbl.gov.

This program is sponsored by the Women Scientists and Engineers Council; Employee & Labor Relations; Protective Services Department; Environment, Health, and Safety Division; Sustainable Berkeley Lab; and the Diversity and Inclusion Office.
