As the Lab honors Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. this year, Lab Director Mike Witherell shared this thoughts and reflections on the meaning of this important holiday.
Below are some options for safe, socially distanced, engagement to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King:
- The Northern California Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Foundation is offering a full program of activities reflecting on Justice and Hope in 2021, including programming on mental health, a music festival, and film screenings. Visit https://sfmlkday.org/ for more information.
- The African American Museum and Library of Oakland’s annual film festival is virtual this year!
- The Museum of African Diaspora (MoAD) is hosting a full day of online programming. You can join their MLK Day livestream on YouTube Live on the MoAD Channel or Facebook Live on MoAD’s page.
However you choose to celebrate the holiday, please take care of yourselves and stay safe.
