Lab Participates in DOE STEM CON Event in Chicago

The Lab’s K-12 program participated in STEM CON, an outreach event to showcase AI research at national labs. Visitors stopped by interactive booths to learn about virtual reality, computer programming, and data visualization. The event was part of the InnovationXLab AI Summit in Chicago this week. Physicists Sought for LHS Exhibit

The Lawrence Hall of Science is looking for physicists interested in inspiring young people and helping them think about careers in STEM. Scientists will have their pictures and biographies included in a traveling exhibit focused on teaching fundamental physics principles to students grades K-8. Click here to volunteer.

Sept. 27 Training for K-12 Outreach

Employees interested in demonstrating science in local classrooms are invited to attend one of two trainings on Friday, Sept. 27, one at 9 a.m. and the other at 1 p.m. The sessions will cover specific science topics, communication, and classroom management. More information and registration >>

Employees Help Raise Lab Awareness at Solano Stroll

Volunteers Sought for STEM Day at Fairyland – September 20th

Help facilitate STEM activities with kids ages 1 through 7 during the 4th annual STEM @ Fairyland on Friday, Sept. 20, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Volunteers will teach participants how to make great observations and be a good scientist. Training will take place before the event. Click to register.

Volunteers Sought for K-12 STEM Activities

With students now returning to school, the Lab’s K-12 office is looking for volunteers to work with high schoolers visiting the Lab, and bring STEM activities into local elementary and middle school classrooms. Click for more information and to sign up for the K-12 newsletter.

Getting Teens Hooked on STEM

Lessons learned from the successful summer internship program for high school students, iCLEM, are being shared in hopes of having it replicated at other labs. The program, now in its tenth year, has guided 95% of participants to college, with 80% of them majoring in a STEM field. More>>
