Every year on November 11, Veterans Day, our nation takes time to honor those who have protected our country through service in the armed forces. At Berkeley Lab, we are fortunate to include our esteemed veterans as part of our Lab community. They are integral to the Lab, serving in critical positions throughout our operations and scientific divisions.
I would like to personally thank each and every one of these men and women for their service in defense of our country and its allies. As part of national recognition for their service, the Lab held a special Veterans Day luncheon yesterday. I was honored to join our colleagues at Berkeley Lab who served in the armed forces and who continue to bring that commitment and dedication every day here in our community.
The Veterans Day event was organized by our Diversity and Inclusion Office, which promotes a positive workplace environment for all employees. For those interested in building an even stronger network of veterans across the Lab, we have established the Veterans Employee Resource Group (VERG). This group welcomes veterans, friends, family and supporters of veterans. The VERG, along with other employee resource groups, is just one of the ways in which we can help foster diversity, inclusion, and a sense of community at Berkeley Lab.
