Dear Colleagues:
As President Obama has often said, we are stronger when we stand together – and we stand with you in this challenging moment as members of the diverse and dedicated DOE family. The events this week in Louisiana, Minnesota, and Texas, following tragedies in many other communities in which lives have been lost, have left us profoundly saddened, and we join the DOE community in mourning and supporting those most immediately affected. As we grieve, we must also come together to listen and truly hear each other. In doing so, we can take steps to build communities and workplaces that are safe for all of us.
Your leadership team is dedicated to ensuring that DOE is a respectful and inclusive work environment. If you are in need of support, we encourage you to seek help if you feel the need to talk to someone now. In the Washington, DC Headquarters, Employee Assistance Program specialists are available at (202) 586-4995 and (301) 903-4995. If you work in the DOE family outside of the National Capital Region, please contact your Human Resources professional for the specific phone numbers of your Employee Assistance Program specialists. In addition, the Headquarters Employee Assistance Program, available at the numbers provided above, is prepared to aid employees and refer them to the appropriate office.
Sincerely,
Secretary Moniz and Deputy Secretary Sherwood-Randall
