Join us for Lean In’s introductory Allyship at Work Workshop in Honor of Pride Month
(https://leanin.org/allyship-at-work)
In honor of Pride Month, please join the IDEA office and the Lambda Alliance for a special one-hour introduction to the Lean In Allyship at Work Program.
This introductory workshop will give you an interactive and thought-provoking look at what it means to be an ally in the workplace. It will guide you through an exploration of privilege, help you recognize your positional power at work, and let us develop a shared understanding of allyship.
Date: June 15, 2023
Time: 1 – 2 pm PT
Registration: Allyship at Work June 15th Signup Form
**The deadline to signup is Tuesday, June 13th**
**This workshop is open to all Lab employees**
Why Allyship?
Allyship is about people stewardship and living Berkeley Lab’s Stewardship Values of respect, trust, service and team science. We need every employee to show up as allies for each other in order to promote and advance a culture of inclusion and to create a supportive and accepting workplace culture for everyone at the Lab.
But did you know that while the majority of employees see themselves as allies, research shows (https://leanin.org/women-in-the-workplace-2021) relatively few are taking basic allyship actions?

What to expect:
The workshop will take place on Zoom, and we recommend attending from a quiet place where you feel comfortable speaking openly. This introductory session is 60-minutes and will include breakout discussions with 4-5 of your colleagues. The session also includes journal prompts, so be sure to have somewhere you’d like to keep your responses.
Breakout Groups:
The breakout discussions will be organized by level so that you can talk openly with colleagues about what allyship looks like for people in your role and, in order to organize the groups in advance, we ask you to register.
We will also have optional breakout rooms for employees with traditionally marginalized identities. If you’re someone who identifies as such and wants to be placed in a breakout group of your peers, please let us know on the sign up form. If you identify as white, straight, and cisgender, consider leaving this as a space where those with traditionally marginalized identities can unpack their experiences, if they choose to join that group.
