WSEC Announces 4th Parenting Class on Jan. 26

Parenting Class #4 FlyerIn an effort to continue enhancing Berkeley Lab’s family-friendly environment, the Women Scientists and Engineers Council (WSEC) and the Diversity and Inclusion Office (DIO) are co-hosting a bi-monthly parenting class series (six classes total), from May 2015 – May 2016.  The fourth class, “How To Set Limits That Stick,” facilitated by Marcilie Smith Boyle, will be held on Tuesday, January 26th from 12:00-1:30 p.m. in B70A Room 3377.  This event is open to the entire Berkeley Lab community, for both men and women, including partners and spouses (employees have to make any visitor pass arrangements necessary).

No cost, but registration is required.  To register, please complete this form.  Due to limited space, we can only accept 35 participants for this class.  Additional classes will be announced soon.

Testimonials from WSEC members:

“Marcilie Smith Boyle’s teaching style is both pertinent and insightful into parenting. I have made major changes in my relationship with my children moving from a stressful dictatorial style to one solution-driven and caring. My home life’s not perfect but we are certainly going in the right direction.”

“Marcilie Smith Boyle’s class speaks to me and my husband, because she has a simlar type A personality (she’s a Harvard MBA graduate) and gets that not only do you want to have a happy family, you want an on-time happy family. Her class is experiential and data driven, both attributes appealing to us as a scientist and an engineer. I think it also speaks to her teaching style that her class was almost evenly divided male and female.”
