May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Since 1949, mental health advocates across the country have led the observance of May as Mental Health Awareness Month.  In the United States, one in five adults will experience a mental health condition in their lifetime.  Most individuals will be affected or impacted by mental illness through friends and family.  Click here for 31 mental health tips to try every day in May.

Be Well at Work, Berkeley Lab’s employee assistance program, provides no cost confidential counseling and referral.  Spring 2017 workshops include: “Boosting Your Mental Energy,” “Tips and Tools for Improving Your Sleep,” “Happiness in Retirement: Preparing for a Successful Transition,” “Mindful Living,” and more.  Resources and handouts covering a broad range of topics are also posted online.

Additionally, Berkeley Lab’s “All Access” employee resource group is available for employees who would like to learn more about disability inclusion at the Lab.  Click here to learn more.
